I just remembered something that happened to me after I saw the latest Star Trek movie... (spoiler alert!!)
When Spock and Uhura first kissed in the turbolift, I was so surprised! I didn't see it coming at all. But I instantly LOVED them as a couple. And before the movie was over, I'd mentally cataloged the moments that led up to that scene, and it began to make a lot of sense. Further, I could see why Spock and Uhura would be perfect for one other--they are both brilliant and professional, they worked closely together at school, and at least from Spock's perspective, I can see how Uhura would provide him with a safe place to deal with his emotions and his human side. Add to that the fact that they are both young and extremely attractive...
So when I walked out of that theater, I was already a rabid Spock/Uhura fan. When I got home, I scoured the web for any and all information about this pairing. One one site, I found a forum where someone posted about the fact that Spock and Uhura kiss in the movie. And the people who responded to the post were mad! They were like, "I'm not gonna be able to see the movie now!" And I was like, "Yeah, I know! Way to ruin the movie for those who haven't seen it yet!"
But then I realized the real reason they were so angry about it... Apparently I'd stumbled upon a white supremacist site! They were angry about the interracial kiss!
Let me tell you, I'm glad I wasn't reading that at work. So, in conclusion, let me point out that "Stormfront" is NOT a SciFi or movie website. FYI.
Oh, and for all you white supremacists out there...
